The smell of garlic greets you even before you reach the front door of Sangiovese. Inside, live jazz plays in the background of this upscale, yet understated restaurant. A dark wood bar lines one wall of the narrow dining area, leading back to larger rooms and a covered deck with a water view. The decor is Italian-inspired, but not overdone, featuring clean lines and simple sophistication.
The menu includes a variety of pastas, salads, crepes and bruschetta. Most regulars start with the baked Brie or spinach/artichoke dip. There are plenty of house specialties like the rosticciana (grilled pork loin stuffed with portobello mushrooms) or the salmone al piatto (grilled in white wine and olive oil) to try. Most diners tend to linger after they have sampled the Mediterranean fare -- thanks in part to the ivy-covered porch and long list of espresso drinks. -- Lori Lovely Hours: Mon-Thurs, 5:00pm-10:00pm Fri & Sat, 5:00pm-11:00pm Sun, 5:00pm-9:00pm
